We’re sitting on a peninsula here, so beaches are sort of our thing. From the secluded glories of Tower Beach to the off-leash dog park at Spanish Banks, we’ve got you covered (or uncovered, in the case of Wreck Beach, Canada’s largest nudist option). Because UBC’s surrounding area is a little off the beaten path, our beaches are less manicured and far less crowded than Kits or English Bay. Ideal beach-combing territory.
Getting there: Take Beach Trail (near the Museum of Anthropology) to discover Tower Beach. Take N.W. Marine Drive to Spanish Banks, just west of the concession, for the off-leash dog park (it’s outlined here.) And, at the western-most point of our peninsula, you’ll find signage for Trail 6, which takes you down to Wreck Beach.
